We Can Hardly Wait!

We don't know what to be more excite about, the movie itself or the fact that we get to see Anna Wintour express emotion.

It's a Man's World

Ladies, while we have the fortunate opportunity to don cute summer dresses and sandals (only as walking shoes) to work. We have to admit that we feel sorry for our male counterparts who must still be dressed in their 9-5 best. Because we love you guys (pun intended) so much we have decided to compile some summer style tips that will keep you cool (yes-we know-pun intended):

1. Keep it light- Fellas, it is time to put away the wool suits and break out the cotton. Invest in cotton or chino suits that are still professional but are made of lighter material.

2. Color me Bad- Resist the urge to wear a dark suit. We know the old adage "black attracts heat." Invest in tan and cream suits.

3. Tie me up- Wear ties that are summery and fun but still office appropriate. Try colors such as light blue and peach.

4. If the shoe fits- Cole Haan makes awesome dress loafers that are cool and comfortable but still very professional.

5. Lay it on me-Many of you have to wear blazers to work. Place a nice dress shirt and vest under your blazer that way when you leave work for the evening happy hour you can toss the blazer and still have a polished look under.

And if all else fails, there is always searsucker...we kid we kid.

Keeping You in Mint Condition

As one store closes another opens. It is no surprise that in the midst of a recession consignment shops have become the best thing since sliced bread. On June 18th, Mint Condition opened its doors to eager Alexandria residents. The boutique owner, Toni Henderson boasts an array of cosigned designers from Catherine Malandrino to Gucci. What is best about this shop is that once you cosign with them they split the profits with you fifty-fifty. That's enough to make us flock to Virginia.

Mint Condition is located at Mint Condition, 114 South Royal Street, Alexandria (703-836-6468 or shopmintcondition.com

Their Eyes Were Watching Eatonville

D.C.'s newest hot restaurant has opened and it surely opened with a bang! Eatonville, which is owned by the owner of Bus Boys and Poets (conveniently located next door) pays tribute to Zora Neale Hurston's southern roots. When asked why the restaurant was dubbed the name Eatonville, the hostess explained that it was a way to bring Langston Hughes and Zora Neale Hurston back together. The southern cuisine restaurant offers Pecan Crusted Trout, Cat Fish Po Boy, and Pan Fried Pork Chop. The atmosphere is filled with beautiful art and history. It is the perfect date spot.

The restaurant has been getting amazing reviews not only about it's menu but as well as it's awesome customer service. The staff is extremely friendly and knowledgable about the menu and the history behind the restaurant.

Eatonville has been DCfab certified, Washington Post certified, and now it is BTS certified.

Boutique Spot Light

We normally do a designer spotlight but with D.C. becoming the new black we decided this would be great to highlight all of the great boutiques and stores our nation's capitol has to offer.

First up: Farinelli's. Ok-so it is not exactly in D.C. but it is close enough. Farinelli's which is located right on Clarendon Blvd in Arlington, is just two blocks from the metro (Clarendon). This awesome store is like a shopper's mecca. Not only is the customer service to die for (You are always greeted by an upbeat and funky team) but the cash register is not your traditional cash register. It is situated like a bar so you can relax and grab a drink to help you convince yourself the impulse purchase you just made is a great investment.

The women's section offers lines such as Vena Cava, Sea, and Splendid just to name a few. What is great about these lines is that they are all made in the U.S. and are made from environmentally friendly materials. They are their own stimulus package.

We also caught wind that Farinelli's is planning a huge event for the Fall (shhhh).

Ladies and gentlemen, we implore to make your next purchase at Farinelli's. You will leave wanting to go back every time. Any where you can drink and shop is definitely BTS certified!

Designer Spotlight

This week's Designer Spotlight is on Rebecca Minkoff. For your convenience we have listed reasons why we love her and why you should too:

1. We love the Morning After bag and we love it even more because of the name.
2. We love that her logo isn't splattered all over the bag distastefully. Logos are so 2000.
3.We love the fun colors, great architecture of the bags, and the efficiency of them.

It's Like Fashion Week All Over Again

Ok so maybe the title of this post is a bit misleading but it got your attention. Now listen, tonight we will be attending the Valentio: Last Emperor screening at the Bethesda Row Cinema. This is apart of a series of fashion events put together by The Front Row. As if bringing the Valentino movie to Maryland was not enough, Project Runway's Christian Siriano will be hosting a trunk show.

Happy Birthday DC Scout

Last night, we had the pleasure of attending D.C. Scout's 2ND anniversary party at Barney's Co-op in Georgetown. The event was fabulous. Well coordinated with champagne flowing and lots of delicious treats to snack on. The patrons looked amazing-in particular-a Ms. Rachel Cothran of Project Beltway donned a beautiful black ensemble.

Moving on, before the event there was a raffle off of a beautiful leather brown Marc by Marc Jacobs handbag as well as the winner's choice of any Diane Von Furstenburg dress(We know-We know). Though we didn't win, we appreciate the great goody bag that was given to all the patrons.

Over all the event was a major success! And a special shout-out to Emily Hall for getting Behind the Seams in the door.

The Fashion Show a Faux?

Bravo's The Fashion Show premiers tonight and honestly, we are indifferent. Here are our thoughts:

1. We know this is Bravo's not so indiscreet attempt at replacing Project Runway.
2. The name of the show lacks creativity, but what reality show doesn't these days.
3. We are slightly insulted that they would hire Kelly Rowland and Isaac Mizrahi to host it in an effort to win us over.
4.The designers all seem-well-type casted.

Even still, we'll be watching anyway. You can catch The Fashion Show tonight on Bravo at 10:00 p.m. est.

Pardon Our Dust

Behind the Seams would like to offer the sincerest apology to our followers. We have been lacking in our postings but we will be sure to continue our normally scheduled fashion updates. Thank you for your dedication.
